COMMUNITY | WHITE RIBBON DAY

By PASCOE VALE SOCCER CLUB, 25th Nov 2014

The Gaffer Vitale Ferrante was proud to provide assistance to a wonderful charity White Ribbon recently continuing Pascoe Vale Soccer Club's focus on community engagement and assisting those less fortunate.

Great to see the men of Moreland getting behind the White Ribbon message.

City of Moreland didn’t expect these honest and tender responses when they asked Moreland men to open up about the women they love and the kind of world they want for them.

These men wore their hearts on their sleeves for White Ribbon Day to help end violence against women.

Watch the breathtaking video feauturing Vitale Ferrante and Moreland men who took the time out to support domestic violence.

What is White Ribbon?

White Ribbon is an organisation that works to prevent male violence against women. It is a male-led campaign that believes that most men are good and that good men abhor such violence. White Ribbon also believes in the capacity of the individual to change and to encourage change in others.

Through primary prevention initiatives and an annual campaign, White Ribbon seeks to change the attitudes and behaviours that lead to and perpetuate violence against women.

Why the work of White Ribbon is so important

Violence against women is a grave problem in Australian society.
One woman is killed every week by a current or former partner.
One in three women over the age of 15 report physical or sexual violence at some time in their lives, and
Domestic and family violence is the major cause of homelessness for women and their children, and a recognised form of child abuse.

Why Moreland Council is involved

Moreland City Council is committed to preventing family violence and violence against women.
Council has endorsed the Moreland Family Violence Prevention Strategy and is currently implementing activities to address the determinants of family violence through annual Action Plans.
