Round 17

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Moreland City Soccer Club

4 September 2011

This week the boys travelled to Coburg to play against Moreland City Soccer Club.  The first 5 minutes belonged to Moreland City, with our defence sitting a little too deep at times, but once the defensive structure was back in place, the boys took total control.  Our boys were very unlucky in the first half not to score with a shot hitting the cross bar and others just missing the goals.  However, the boys kept up the hard work in the second half and were rewarded with 2 goals that sealed the match for us.  It was a great all round performance for the boys and a special win, as the boys were trying to send their captain, Vincent Miceli off with a win in his last game before he travels overseas. Well done boys, excellent effort.

Round 19 (Catch Up Round)

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Essendon Royals Soccer Club

28 August 2011

This week the boys were home again and faced Essendon Royals.  After suffering two close defeats in the last two weeks, the boys were fired up to make sure they took the 3 points from the game.  The boys took control of this game from the start and never looked it trouble.  The boys had total control of the ball and probably should have scored many more goals, however it was a great performance from all players.  The boys were so strong, that the Royals only had one shot on goal for the entire game.  It was a strong comeback from the loss the week before.  Well done boys, excellent effort.

Round 16

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Northern Falcons

21 August 2011

This week the boys were at home and their opponents were the Northern Falcons.  The game was even with both teams having equal share of the ball, but our boys were creating the more chances, and to the boys credit we scored and took that lead into the half time break.  The second half saw our boys have number shots on goal, going just wide or hitting the post.  To the Northern Falcons credit they took advantage of our errors and scored two goals to take the lead.  The boys kept trying but unfortunately run out of time.  Well done boys, very unlucky in the end, but a great effort overall.

Round 15

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Fawkner

14 August 2011

This week the boys travelled to Fawkner.  The boys started well taking the lead early and dominating the early play.  However, to Fawkner’s credit, they worked their way back into the game and took control of the first half and scoring two goals to take a lead into the half time break.  The second half was an even contest and unfortunately our boys could not find the back of the net and the scores reminded the same as they were at half time.  Well done to both teams, the 3 times we have played against Fawkner this year, have been decided by 1 goal each time, with Fawkner winning two of the games and our boys 1 of the games.  Well done Pascoe Vale, I know you were disappointed, but I can never question your will to keep on trying right until the final whistle. Congratulations to Damian Arena for captaining the side today.

Round 14

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Essendon Royals Soccer Club

7 August 2011

This week the boys travelled to Ormond Park to play Essendon Royals Soccer Club.  After last week’s loss the boys were ready to bounce back and bounce back is what they did.  The boys totally dominated the play and had most of the possession, which resulted in a very comfortable win in the end.  The defence was tight, with Essendon Royals only having one real chance on goal.  Our midfield were very creative, and controlled the ball from one end of the ground to the other and our forwards were able to score and also force the Royals defence and midfield into making mistakes, with the pressure applied on them.  Well done boys, this was a very solid all round performance. Congratulations to Shannon Powell for captaining the side today.

Round 13

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Gisborne Junior Soccer Club

31 July 2011

This week the boys faced Gisborne Junior Soccer Club at home.  After totally denominating our last 3 games, the boys knew they were in for a tough game against Gisborne.  Gisborne started stronger with the harder running through the midfield, however our boys had the early shot on goal which hit the cross bar.  A few minutes later the boys conceded an unlucky goal.  Just before the break, once again our boys hit the cross bar and unfortunately conceded a second goal just before the half time.  We seemed to start getting back into the game in the second half and finally scored, which made the last 15 minutes really intense.  However, 5 minutes before the end, Gisborne scored again to secure the win.  Well done boys, a little unlucky, but I’m sure you will bounce back next week. Congratulations to Steven Giantsis for captaining the side today.

Round 12

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Oak Park Soccer Club

24 July 2011

This week the boys were back at home for a game against Oak Park.  Once again the boys started very well keeping the pressure on Oak Park from the start to the end.  In the end the boys had a comfortable well deserved win.  The boys won the contest all around the ground.  Excellent passing and movement of the ball was a delight to see.  The defence was solid as usual, with the midfield backing the defence up and then setting up our attacks, and the hard work by our strikers to keep the pressure on the opposition team in their defensive half is great to see.  Well done boys, another great performance.  Congratulations to Laurence Marchionna for captaining the side today.

Round 11

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Sunbury United Junior Soccer Club

17 July 2011

This week the boys travelled to Sunbury to play against Sunbury United Junior Soccer Club.  The last time we meet it was tight encounter that finished in a draw.  However, this time around, our boys dominated the game from the first whistle until the last. This was definitely the best game I have seen the boys play, the passing, defending and constant pressuring was a delight to see.  The boys actually deserved to win by much more, and to not even allow Sunbury to have a shot at goal just showed how dominate our boys actually were.  Well done boys, this was a great performance for the entire 50 minutes by all.  Congratulations to Ricky Walker for captaining the side today.

Round 10

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Moreland City Soccer Club

3 July 2011

Back at home this week, the boys faced Moreland City Soccer Club.  The matched started off with both teams having equal share of possession, but in the last ten minutes of the first half the boys started taking control and were unlucky not to score.  However, come the second half and once the boys kicked their first goal, the game completely shifted Pascoe Vale’s way and in the end, it was a comfortable win.  Great result for the boys and an excellent game by all. Well done boys and keep up the good work.  Congratulations to Antony Maugeri for captaining the side today.

Round 8

Pascoe Vale U11s Joeys (Lightning) V Fawkner

19 June 2011

Back at home for a second week in a row, and the boys faced Fawkner.  This was going to be a tight game based on our round 1 clash and it surely proved to be.  The game was fairly even in the first half and remained
scoreless.  In the second half the boys really stepped up a gear and denominated the half, but unfortunately were not able to put one in the back of the net, and as so often happens in these types of games, Fawkner on a counter attack scored with less than 2 minutes left in the match. The boys were disappointed, but I was quite proud of their efforts.  Well done boys.  Congratulations to Vincent Miceli for captaining the side today.

Round 7

Pascoe Vale U11s Joeys (Lightning) V Essendon Royals Soccer Club

12 June 2011

This week the boys returned home to take on the Essendon Royals.  The boys took control of this game very early and never looked like losing this game.  Excellent passing, defending and movement of the ball, the boys played an excellent game of soccer for the entire 50 minutes and deserved the strong win.  It was a strong comeback from the loss the week before. Well done boys, excellent effort. Congratulations to Louis Tsabasidis for captaining the side today.

Round 6

Pascoe Vale U11s Joeys (Lightning) V Gisborne Junior Soccer Club

5 June 2011

This week the boys made the long journey down the Calder Highway to play Gisborne.  Based on previous results we knew this was going to be a tough game, and it was.  In the first half our boys were playing against quite a strong wind and struggled to handle the conditions and conceded 2 goals. However, in the second half the boys really picked up the intensity and had a number of opportunities to score, however due to some good goalkeeping by Gisborne and bad luck on our side we could only score once in the second half.  Bad luck boys, I?m always proud of your efforts. Congratulations to Oskar Rausa for captaining the side today.

Round 5

Pascoe Vale U11s Joeys (Lightning) V Oak Park

29 May 2011

This week the boys travelled to Oak Park and were looking forward to a very competitive game against the ladder leaders.  However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the game was cancelled at the last minute. Thank you to all the parents and the boys for coming back to our home ground and playing a small game between each other.  It was a great opportunity for the boys to have a little fun and the parents to mingle with each other.

Round 4

Pascoe Vale U11s Joeys (Lightning) V Sunbury United Junior Soccer Club

22 May 2011

This week the boys were at home for the first time this season against Sunbury United Junior Soccer Club.  The match was a very tight and difficult encounter.  Sunbury played very well for most of the day and made it difficult for our boys today.  Even though the boys? performance was bit off today, I can't argue about their fighting spirit to never give up.  The game was scoreless until the last 5 minutes, when Sunbury took a 1 goal lead twice within the last 5 minutes, only for our boys to level up the scores twice and come away with a draw.  Well done boys, I know this was far from our best performance, but to come away with a draw and display your never give up attitude at all costs was absolutely fantastic. Congratulations to Kosta Sangas for captaining the side today.

Round 3

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Moreland City Soccer Club

15 May 2011

This week the boys travelled to Campbell Reserve in Coburg to play against Moreland City Soccer Club.  Due to the wet weather during the week, the ground was very heavy under foot and was going to be challenging for all.  However, the boys adapted well and took control of the game early and run out the game very well.  In the end it was a comfortable win by the boys.  Well done to all the boys. Congratulations to Vincent Surace for captaining the side today.

Round 2

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Bye

Round 1

Pascoe Vale U11’s Joeys (Lightning) V Fawkner

1 May 2011

After a solid start to the pre-season, the boys travelled to Fawkner to play against Fawkner in the first game of the 2011 season. The match was a very tight encounter and both sides played well and only one goal scored for the entire game.  In the end, well done to the Pascoe Vale boys to come away with the victory in a very tough and tight encounter.  Great team effort by all the boys.  Congratulations to Ryan Campisano for captaining the side today.
