to the girls about "What it takes to make it as an elite

questions at the end and we trust that all our junior girls
got something out of the visit.

New Club Signings for Seniors
Date: 22/01/2009
The club committee has been very active in the summer
season, trying to secure the services of players and
coaching staff. Our aim is to ensure that we become a long
term fixture of State Div 1 and as a result, we are pleased
to welcome some new additions to the ‘Paco’ family. These
are:
Our new Youth Team
(U21s) coach – Pepi Colakovski. We would like to welcome Pepi back to the club where he took his first soccer steps.
Pepi has been a home grown talent of Pascoe Vale and a proud
ambassador of what can be achieved with hard work. Pepi not
only excelled as a player, but he has also gained his
coaching credentials in the last few years. He has had
stints in coaching in the Victorian Superleague as well as
being an assistant coach at the Victorian Premier League.
Pepi is very committed in producing our next generation
players to ‘feed’ our Senior squad. We wish Pepi all the
best for the season ahead.
Under 18s Coach –
Angelo Naselli. Angelo comes to our club with a wealth
of playing and coaching experience behind him. Angelo is
very dedicated in building a squad for the future. It is the
club’s beliefs in promoting our home grown players to our
Youth and eventually the Senior Teams and we believe that
Angelo has the ability to bring out the best out of his
players. We wish Angelo all the very best for the season
ahead.
Senior Player – Sash Becvinovski.
Sash is one of the best known and most experienced players
in the Victorian Football family. His long career took him
to clubs such as Footscray JUST, Green Gully, Brunswick Juventus, Preston Lions, Altona Magic and more recently the
Bulleen Royals. His accolades in the Victorian Premier
League (VPL) include U-21 Player of the Year: 1991, 1992,
Golden Boot: 1998, 2006 and Player of the Year: 2006. We
have no doubt that with a player of this calibre, there will
be a few worrying moments for our opposition’s defences. We
would like to welcome Sash to Pascoe Vale and look forward
to seeing him on the pitch doing what he does best. In
addition to the above mentioned names, the club is very
close to announcing a number of new and exciting additions
to our teams. Watch this space!

Ground Update Date: 22/01/2009
As this drought continues to create havoc amongst sporting
clubs, our main ground is off limits at the moment, for all
activities. The playing surface is starting to look
reasonable and the drought resistant grass seems to be
surviving the conditions. With the commencement of
pre-season training for the juniors approaching rapidly, we
would like to inform all players to come to training with
runners and not football boots. Training will take place at
the outside training grounds. Thank you all for your
understanding.
Club Room Redevelopment Date :
22/01/09
We are pleased to announce that as of last week, work on the
existing club rooms has officially started. On a balmy
evening last Thursday night, a group of volunteers gathered
at the club and equipped with sledgehammers and other
‘weapons of mass destruction’, vented their frustrations on
one of the existing walls.
We are now awaiting for the steel frame to be erected,
followed by the glass and finally the concrete. It may sound
simple, however, as anyone who has been involved with
building will agree, completion of the job will take us into
early March. We appreciate our members’ and guests’ patience
as we are striving to improve our facilities for our
community’s benefit.

promote their business for a very affordable cost.
If any of our members own or know someone who owns a
business and wishes to get involved with the club as a
sponsor please contact George on 0419 518 596.

2009.

and to publicise the club to the local community.
JUNIOR PRESEASON START Date:02/10/08 With Christmas approaching rapidly, it won't be long before
our official pre-season training commences. Please note that
for 2009, our preseason training starts on Tuesday February the 10th
at 6:00 PM.
Please put these dates in your calendar and we look forward to
seeing you all then.
SUMMER TRAINING Date:01/10/08 Our summer training comes to an end Tuesday 16th of
December. We would like to thank all of the coaches that
gave of their time to assist as well as all of the parents
and players that turned up. It is clear that some players
want to continue some form of soccer or training at the end
of the season and so the club will endeavour to plan a more
structured program for next season end.
PASCOE VALE SENIORS WIN STATE
2 CHAMPIONSHIP!! Date:01/09/08 The Our Seniors win the Championship in State 2 NW
division It has taken our club 40 years of getting close to,
but never actually winning promotion to the Victorian State
League 1 Division, however, this year we have created
history! After a long season with plenty of nail biting
moments, Pascoe Vale managed to win the Victorian State
League 2 NW Championship.
What makes this achievement more
remarkable is that in the process, the team lost only one
game, the last game of the season with the
Championship having been already won. A big congratulations
to our senior coach Luciano Trani and all the boys for their achievement
and we look forward to supporting the team as they embark on
a very challenging year ahead.
CLUB ROOMS REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Date:01/09/08 As most of you may be aware, the club is very close in
getting the green light from the council to proceed with
some needed renovations at our club room.
A 'redevelopment committee' has been formulated, consisting
of many of our members, in order to coordinate the project.
This project will include the extension of our current club
rooms towards the playing ground and the installation of
glass doors and windows will enable us to watch the games
from the club rooms.
In addition, we are planning to extend the undercover area
and concrete directly in front of the canteen and club
rooms. Cosmetic work is planned for the interior of the club
rooms as well with a well needed painting and laying new
floor coverings. Watch this space for more updates as these
come to hand.
GROUND UPDATE Date:01/09/08 As you are all aware, with the current water restrictions in
place, some restrictions are likely to apply to the use of
our grounds. These will be communicated to you as they
become available from the council. Currently the drought
resistant grass on our main pitch is starting to blossom
from the yellow color during the winter months, to a nice
green color (as grass should be!).
We are discussing options with the council for a grass that
remains green all year round. On the subject of talking to
council, we are also trying to get the cricket ground
installed with goals so we can mark it and have more playing
options for the upcoming season.
