Match Reports - 2009
Pascoe Vale vs Melbourne Knights Friendly - PVSC 0, MKSC 3
Date 06/02/2009
On a balmy Friday evening, Pascoe Vale played against the current Premier League runners up, Melbourne Knights at the Knights' Stadium in Sunshine. Pascoe Vale put on a valiant performance against the former NSL giants however, the experience of the Knights' players plus the fact that they had started their pre season training long before our boys and were in a better physical condition, finally took its toll and we ended up going down 3-0.

Paco started the game lively and had a couple of good chances where Mick lobed the keeper only for the ball to go over the bar. Soon after, Sash had a goal disallowed for handball. Our boys managed to keep the Knights out until late in the first half, when an unfortunate deflection from Rocky, resulted in the Knights taking the lead. The Knights started the second half where they had left off and managed to score the second as a result of a failed clearance attempt from Johnny, which eluded Wes in goals and ended up at the back of the net.

From that point on, Luciano kept rotating the players so they could all get some playing time. It was not long before the Knights capitalized on their domination and scored the 3rd and final goal of the game. It was always going to be a difficult game for our boys, given the calibre of the opposition. Congratulations to our players for holding their ground and putting on a typically gutsy Paco performance. This was the 3rd game in a week, with the fourth to follow this Sunday as part of the Springvale White Eagles tournament.

Springvale White Eagles Tournament - Pascoe Vale vs Fawkner 1-1 Draw
Date: 03/02/2009
Week 1 saw the lads go up against State one opponents Fawkner. The senior team had a first up draw 1-1, with the solitary goal scorer to the clubs new signing Sash Becvinoski. This is Sash’s first goal for Pascoe Vale, we congratulate him & wish all the best for the upcoming season.

The lads had to come back from a 1-0 deficit to draw the game. Conditions on the day were very humid and blustery. Not ideal for soccer, but the lads coped well and the hard work during pre season is paying off. Overall it’s was a good contest for the lads so early in the sides preparation for the 2009 season, this follows a draw in last Friday nights friendly with Westage at Darebin.

There was some encouraging signs for the coach and given Luc’s professionalism and the lads working very hard during the pre season, the side will be ready to for the start of the State 1 campaign.

Pascoe Vale start their preseason friendlies with a 0-0 draw.

Date: 01/02/2009
Under some very trying conditions, Pascoe Vale kicked off their 2009 campaign with a friendly game against Westgate SC. The game was played in 3 x 30 minute periods, with short drink breaks every 15 minutes. The very hot conditions affected players from both teams, as they tried to dominate the game.

Our coach, Luciano Trani, had the opportunity to see a lot of our new players in action, as well as a number of players currently on trial at our club. The chances were far and few between which was not surprising given the conditions and that this was the first game of the season for both sides. Overall, our team showed very encouraging signs with all players keen to impress the coach. Our next game is this Sunday, where we play at the Springvale Tournament.
