Match Reports - 2009
  Round 1 - 26/04/2009
Pascoe Vale travelled to Thomastown to play Lalor Utd in their first game of the season. It was a cold windy morning and Pascoe Vale found them selves playing into the wind for the first half. Despite the conditions, Pascoe Vale had the better chances of scoring than Lalor, but the score remained 0-0 at half time. With the wind behind them, it was all Pascoe Vale in the Second half. Pascoe Vale scored 4 goals before Lalor could break through with a late goal. It was a great team effort by all and well deserved win. Final score was 4-1 to Pascoe Vale.

Round 2 - 03/05/2009
It was our first home game and it was a splendid Autumn day, compared to the Antarctic blast we experienced in Round 1. Round 2 the U10 Joeys (Green) played hosts to Brunswick City. Our boys tried their best on the day but the boys from Brunswick were too experienced. One pleasing aspect from the game was the fact that our boys tried hard all day and never gave up trying. Remember boys have fun and enjoy the experience of playing against other teams.

Round 3 - 09/05/2009
The Pascoe Vale U'10 Joeys ventured to Sth Morang to play Bundoora Utd. The early 9.00am kick off must have affected the boys because within the first 15 minutes, Pascoe Vale found themselves trailing 4 nil. Bundoora were dominating. However, after applying considerable pressure for the remainder of the first half, the Pascoe Vale Joeys finally scored. At half time Pascoe Vale were down 1-4. In the second half the boys came out a different team. Pascoe Vale scored first to bring the score back to 2-4. The boys fought hard and played some good football in the second half. The boys eventually went down 3-5 to Bundoora Utd, but Pascoe Vale were the better team in the second half. It was a great effort by all the boys in the end. As the season progresses, they are starting to show some signs of playing some good football.

Round 4 - 17/05/2009

Today the U10 Joeys Green team was host to Moreland United. This was our second home game for the season and it was good to be back playing on our own turf. The start of the game was delayed somewhat because Moreland Utd turned up undermanned. But eventually a few more of their team rolled up, so the game eventually went ahead. For once we played an opposing team that was evenly matched to our team, how ever some of the opposing teams players did look older than 9. Our boys after having conceded the first goal, re-grouped and continuously attacked their goal. Eventually we were rewarded with some good goals. The final score was 5-2 in our favour. The boys thoroughly deserved this victory. They showed that they can play some good football. Job well done boys. Thank you to all the parents for their support.

Round 5 - 24/05/2009
Today the morning started extra early for players and coach with a photo shoot for the U10 Joeys Green Team. All the boys turned up with their hair styled and groomed ready for their photos. After the photos were done, it was straight on the pitch to get ready for the big clash against Northcote City. The game started with Northcote City the stronger, however, our boys didn’t show them much respect. Mid way through the first half one of our boys received a high boot to the face and had to come off injured. In the second half we kept on attacking and eventually scored a goal, and it was a good one at that.

The boys worked hard to get that goal and they deserved it after the gutsy effort that they put in through the game. Had the teams been evenly matched I think the end result would have been different. Then tragic struck again. Another player from Pascoe Vale had to go off injured. My interchange bench resembled the emergency area at St Vincent’s Hospital. We didn’t win on the scoreboard, but full points must go to all the boys for not giving up. Well done boys. Thank you to all the parents for their support.
