Bye
Round 2 - 3/05/2009
Kanga Yellow team had a Bye first round so there first outing
was Round 2 at Home against Brunswick City. Right from the start
it was a tough tight match, our boys played a good team game and
led 4-2 at half time, and had more chances to be further ahead.
Brunswick came back hard in the second half, and some lapses in
concentration from our boys allowed Brunswick to level at 6-6
during the second half. Only a last minute corner cross and
header saw the our boys home by 6 goals to 5. The boys deserved
the win, they had more of the play and scoring chances but we
can't afford to make silly mistakes, especially in front of our
goal against good teams. A great game, very lucky (and relieved)
to come away with the win. Well Done. (Goals: 3 goals each to
Stefan & Kristian (Capt))
Round 3 - 10/05/2009
A very good start for the PV Kangas Yellow against Moreland
United with strong running and passing saw our early pressure
give PV a 4-2 lead at half time, with goals to Kristian, Stefan,
Christiano and Josh. In the second half the Moreland boys
stepped up their game and got a couple of goals back early, but
the PV boys steadied with some great work in defense, our
running/passing game returned and two more goals resulted. The
final score, a 6-4 win was very rewarding for the effort the
boys put in. Another tough game, and under pressure the PV boys
prevailed, through great Teamwork, well done!. (Goals: Kristian
(capt) 2, Stefan 2, Christiano & Josh 1).
Round 4 - 17/05/2009
Pascoe Vale boys were at home (on the oval) to North City lions
and proved to be far too strong. In the first half the PV boys
plays some very attractive football, with accurate passes and
hard running saw 10 goals in the net. It would have been more
but for the great work of the visitors goalie, she worked hard
all match. In the second half the PV boys lost shape, and
consequently passes missed targets or had no receiver. The
visitors put pressure on and the PV boys just kicked
away/cleared without looking for options. Despite that the PV
boys scored another 8 to finish with an 18-2 result. A good
result, well done boys.
Round 5 - 24/05/2009
Another great game. The Kangas Yellow, hosted Watsonia at Hosken
Reserve on the best grass on the oval. The day was cloudy and
windy. Kicking into the breeze the game started out even, some
good defence by the visitors, they showed some skills and
attacked as well. But the PV boys were running and passing and
hitting targets with the passes. Several crosses just failed to
find a striker in front, Christiano had a shot, off the bar,
then a corner from Stef and Nic's header just over the bar,
another shot by Christiano deflected by the keeper over the bar.
It was great play, great pressure and got its reward with 4
goals late in the first half. Stef worked hard, setting up Nic's
2 goals with crosses from either side, and Andrea was great in
defence. The second half, the PV boys continued their great
play, though the wind sometimes took the passes beyond their
intended receivers. Kristian (out of goal) showed some fine
footwork, Stef became the receiver/striker as the boys put on 6
more goals. A very good team effort.
