Match Reports - 2009
  Round 1 - 26/04/2009
The boys travelled to Knott Res. Clifton Hill for their first game, and found themselves up against an all girl team. In a very one-sided game the boys teamed well, passed the ball around and scored at will. The girls hadn't practiced together, but some of the girls showed promising skills and with some practice and games we hope to see great game on the return match. The pitch was in perfect condition, a beautiful green carpet and the boys took advantage of it, showed lots of skill passing and moving with confidence, Keep it up boys!. (Special thanks to Toni for stepping in as Ref and keeping the game on track).

Round 2 - 3/05/2009
Reality bit the Joey Reds in the second Round after their first round cakewalk, the Brunswick Zebras were bigger and stronger and had plenty of skill, and had come to play!. The PV boys got an early goal in the first half through Martin, but the zebras got 5. The Pascoe Vale joeys kept up the fight in the second half, giving all they could, and restricted the Zebras to just two more goals, but couldn't make a mark on the score board themselves. Our boys had some chances, got forward plenty of times, but couldn't find anyone in a scoring position. All the boys tried hard all game, highlights, Frankie was everywhere, ran miles, attacked and defended, a fantastic effort, as was Josh's efforts in goals second half. And Jordan, who took a ball hard in the face and got right back into the game, well done.

Round 3 - 10/05/2009
The Joeys had an early start at Bundoora, a fine morning, and a nice pitch, but not easy to find. Three goals early in the first half, including two to Martin saw the boys ahead 3-1 at half time, with Charlie in the goals first half doing a fantastic job and lots of good passing and teamwork. In a much tougher second half the Bundoora boys and girls came back hard, but the PV boys held on in defense and when Charlie slotted home our 4th goal the boys were home with a 4-3 win, well done, a really good team effort. All the boys played a great game, a highlight Gabrielle's efforts in defense in the second half, well done.

Round 4 - 17/05/2009
Pascoe Vale Joeys Red boys were at home (on the oval) to DOC United and had a fantastic game. Our 7 boys worked hard for the full 40 minutes, in the first half Martin scored twice after great crosses, and Josh threw himself around in goal for some great saves. 2-0 at half time the boy continued the great teamwork in the second half. Thomas was solid in defence, great running by Gabriel up the right side, and Charlie, Frank and Jordan all getting the ball into the back of the net, a fantastic team effort, a well deserved 5-1 result. Our opponents had some good and fast players, but it was our teamwork that made the difference, keep it up boys. (We may need to practice our "wall" though, preparation looked okay but execution was a bit shaky!).

Round 5 - 24/05/2009
The Joeys Red hosted Eltham North on the grass at Hosken reserve. Kicking into the breeze in the first half it was a tight struggle, some great work in defence on both sides, Elthams goalie made several good saves, the PV boys were unlucky not to have more than 1 goal on the board at half time. The experienced players in this PV side were doing a fantastic job of bringing their less experienced teammates into the game, by passing to their advantage and giving them every opportunity to make the play and gain confidence, great to see. The second half with the wind, the PV boys kept up the pressure, and created lots of chances by good passing and running. We managed 4 goals in the second half, the visitors had some chances too, but good defence kept them scoreless. Very well done boys, improving every week.
