Match Reports - 2009
  Round 1 - 26/04/2009
Round 1 of the season and we ventured down to Quarries park in Clifton Hill to challenge Yarra Jets. It was a cold and windy morning as the referee blew for the start of the game. We had first use of the wind and from the start we laid an onslaught on the Yarra Jets goals to come away with a 4 nil lead at half time. The second half saw our defence hold strong against a strong wind and our keeper, James making a good save to hold the opposition at bay. There was some excellent interchange of passes from our midfield to our forwards which the opposition could not counter. The final result was Yarra Jets 0 – Pascoe Vale 8, with multiple goal scorers.  WELL DONE BOYS!

Round 2 - 02/05/2009
This week we had a bye, however we were invited by Watsonia to play their U11 Boys Kangaroo team who were also having a bye in their competition. The game was played from end to end with both sets of defences holding strong and the goal keepers from both teams making some great saves. After a hard fought contest the game ended in a 0 – 0 result.

Round 3 - 09/05/2009
After having a bye in Round 2 this week we travelled to Epping City in nice sunny conditions. For most of the first half we were camped in the oppositions half resulting in a 2 nil lead to us at half time. In the second half we started to play good passing football resulting in a 5 nil win to us at the end of the game. The boys are starting to string more passes together and use their team-mates across the park.

Round 4 - 17/05/2009
Round 4 and our first home game of the season. It was a cold but calm morning as the boys warmed up, the fathers prepared the ground ready for play and the mothers opened up the canteen for the day. This week we played Sunbury United and for the first 10 minutes of the game we were camped inside the oppositions half making numerous raids on the Sunbury goal with no luck. However, after netting our first goal at the 10 minute mark we proceeded to add another 5 goals in the space of 15 minutes to lead 6 – 0 at half time.

The second half was a different story with the team loosing its way across the park resulting in minimal goal scoring chances and a goal to the opposition with the final result being Pascoe Vale 7 – Sunbury United 1. In summing up the game, we need to continue our intensity for the full game and not loose our way in the second half as happened today. Overall a good result and continue to look for and help each other across the park.

Round 5 - 24/05/2009
Round 5 and it was an early wakeup call for the boys as we had our photos taken at 8.00am prior to our nine o’clock kickoff. This week we played Mitchell Rangers who traveled all the way down from Broadford. Pascoe Vale started well being 3 nil up in the first eight minutes, but for the remainder of the half they lost their way with wayward passes and incorrect ball choices. After a constructive team talk at halftime by the coaching staff the boys entered the park for the second half with renewed vigor setting about to score 7 goals in the second half to come away 10 nil winners over Mitchell Rangers by the final whistle. The boys have a hard road ahead with 3 away games over the next month so a good team effort will be required by everyone. Well Done Today Boys.

Round 6 - 31/05/2009
This week we played Clifton Hill away who despite being a younger team showed great skill and speed in stopping our attacking play throughout the game. Pascoe Vale started well being 3 nil up by half time. As the second half started the fog moved over the ground. Pascoe Vale had a number of attacking chances scoring two more goals for the game. Clifton Hill could have scored two goals themselves during the half expect for some great saves from our keeper James. Our forward line continues to be on target with Nicholas Deris scoring a hat trick and Nikolas Gatsoulis scoring two goals. Keep Up the Good Works Boys.

Round 7 - 14/06/2009
This week we played Fawkner away who are sitting second in the league, so we knew it would be a close and tough game from the start. Our boys started well scoring the first goal in the third minute followed by another one in the tenth minute, but from then on the Fawkner boys came into their own and made it difficult for our boys. The Pascoe Vale boys went into the break being 2 – 1 up. During the second half our boys started to loose their way expecting the ball to be delivered on a plate rather than go in and get the ball. This brought the Fawkner team into the contest, but our defence stood firm holding out for a 2 – 1 win at the end.

Round 8 - 21/06/2009
This week we played DOC United at Eltham College in Research. Our boys withstood some early pressure from DOC, but once we settled down the boys put on three goals by half time and hit the post twice. The second half we had numerous assaults on the DOC goal only to be thwarted by their goalkeeper. At the 16th minute of the second half we scored our fourth goal with a fantastic right foot strike from outside the penalty box by Darius Metaxas. The final score was 4 nil to Pascoe Vale. Keep up the good work.

Round 9 - 28/06/2009

This week we hosted Bundoora United. Pascoe Vale were camped inside the oppositions half for the first five minutes of the game only for Bundoora to hit us on the break and score the first goal of the game. Pascoe vale continued to attack and put pressure on the Bundoora defence to final score thirty seconds before half time. Pascoe Vale once again put on the pressure at the start of the second half but once again Bundoora hit us on the counter attack to score. During the rest of the half the game moved from end to end with the final score being Pascoe Vale 1 – Bundoora United 2. It will be a hard week on the training track for the boys.

Round 10 - 12/07/2009
This week marks the start of the return leg games and we hosted Yarra Jets. Pascoe Vale started the game full of fire being camped inside the oppositions half for the majority of the first half. Our forwards made many attempts on goal only to be thwarted by the opposition keeper and many stray shots, however by half time the boys were up 4 goals to nil. Pascoe Vale once again put on the pressure at the start of the second half with some excellent running down the flanks coupled with good crosses to our front line which produced 5 more goals for the half, with the final score being Pascoe Vale 9, Yarra Jets 0. Great effort by Nikolas Gatsoulis with 5 goals and Dylan Moulton with 3 Goals. Well Done to the whole team.

Round 11 - Bye

Round 12 - 26/07/2009
As we had a bye last week we traveled down to Sandringham City for a practice game against their kangaroos team which we won 2 nil. This week we hosted the second place team Epping City. Having won the toss Pascoe Vale kicked with the wind and opened the scoring after 35 seconds. This put Epping on the back foot and throughout the first half we were camped inside the oppositions half. Our forwards made many attempts on goal to lead 8 nil at half time In the second half our midfield and backline stood strong to only allow the opposition to kick one goal which was countered by a Pascoe Vale goal into the wind. The final score was Pascoe Vale 9, Epping City 1. Great efforts by Nicholas Deris with 3 goals and Samuel Maio in defence. Great Team Effort Well Done Boys.

Round 13 - 02/08/2009
This week we traveled up to Sunbury in cold and windy conditions. Having lost the toss Pascoe Vale kicked into the wind. Our defense held firm and our forwards and midfield combined well together to put pressure on the opposition goals. The constant pressure by our boys resulted in a 3 nil lead to Pascoe Vale at half time. and opened the scoring after 35 seconds. In the second half our boys thought it would be easy with the wind and for the first 15 minutes of the second half many opportunities on goal were squandered. By the end of the second half our boys added a further 4 goals to the half time score. The final score was Sunbury United 0, Pascoe Vale 7. Next Week we travel up to Broadford.

Round 14 - 09/08/2009
This week we traveled up the Hume Highway to Broadford to take on Mitchell Rangers. The game started with the temperature hovering around 1 degree, however the sun was out and the playing surface was nicely grassed. Pascoe Vale quickly got into gear and launched countless raids on the Mitchell Rangers goal to be 3 nil up at half time. In the first six minutes of the second half our boys scored a further 2 goals but from then on many opportunities on goal were squandered. The final score was Mitchell Rangers 0, Pascoe Vale 6. Good midfield performances were had by Josh and Michael.

Round 16 - 23/08/2009
This week we hosted second placed Fawkner Blues. A crucial game as a win would give Pascoe Vale the Championship. Pascoe Vale had first use of the wind and had a number of shots on goal in the first 10 minutes but with no luck. At the 17 minute mark Pascoe Vale opened the scoring with a great right foot strike by Darius. This goal spurred Fawkner into action and they started to take control of the game and launched some attacks on our goals. One such raid resulted in our left back William clearing the ball of the goal line. Pascoe Vale took a 1 nil lead into the half time break. For the first 10 minutes of the second half Fawkner used the wind well to launch attacks on our goal resulting in a goal at the 10 minute mark and the scores were locked at 1 – 1. Within 2 minutes of Fawkner equalizing, Darius scored another great goal to put us back into the lead. For the remaining 10 minutes play moved from end to end with both teams having shots on goal but no further goals were scored. As the final whistle blew all the Pascoe Vale players, coaching staff, parents and supporters went wild with excitement as the boys had won the championship.

GREAT TEAM EFFORT BY ALL PLAYERS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON AND GREAT COACHING BY TONY AND PAS.
